STATE UNIVERSITY – Penn State wrestling has two upcoming events scheduled. Coach Cael Sanderson plans to bring his quad to the Black Knight Invite hosted by Army West Point on Sunday. In addition to the team traveling to West Point, New York, six Nittany Lions will participate in the NWCA All-Star Classic Exhibition on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at Rec Hall.
This event is not a university event, does not take into account a wrestler’s record or RPI, and is not part of Penn State’s season ticket package.
The All-Star tournament begins at 7 p.m. with Penn Staters’ Shayne Van Ness (149), Levi Haynes (157), Carter Starocci (174), Bernie Tuax (184), Aaron Brooks (197), Greg Kerkfried (285) has been confirmed to participate. compete.
Penn State had a great performance in the round robin portion of the Journeymen College Classic held in Bethlehem last Sunday. The Nittany Lions went 45-15 in the tournament, with 11 of their 20 wrestlers undefeated (3-0), 10 falls, 11 technical falls, and nine majors. Shane Van Ness led the Nittany Lions with a 3-0 record at 149, including three falls.
The six Nittany Lions participating in Tuesday’s NWCA exhibition will not wrestle at Army, but up to 15 wrestlers will compete at Penn State. The final list of Nittany Lion participants will be officially announced on the morning of the event and may be selected from the following list: Robert Howard, Gary Steen and Braden Davis at 125th place. In third place were Aaron Nagao, Baylor Schunk and Sean Wang with 133 points. Bo Bartlett, David Evans and Tyler Kasak were second at 141st. The NWCA All-Star Classic will be held at Rec Hall on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. The showcase will feature 10 collegiate exhibitions and four women’s freestyle competitions.
