Forest Park Walmart has decided not to file criminal charges against a 26-year-old woman from Chicago Heights and a 24-year-old woman from Crete, Illinois, who tried to steal $596.37 worth of items, even though they are charged. He said he didn’t mind. at the village level, according to Forest Park Police.
Surveillance footage shows that on Nov. 8, at 1:07 p.m., the two did not scan all the items at the self-checkout register, but still used their LINK cards to pay $20, not $85. . I owe you something. When Walmart employees asked for their receipts, they refused and left the store. The two men got into a black 2008 Ford Expedition with the man and child inside, and the vehicle drove away.
Police arrested the Ford as it exited the Walmart parking lot. The three initially denied stealing anything, but security camera footage and testimony from employees confirmed the identities of the two women.
Walmart loss prevention staff determined that a charge of theft under village ordinance was sufficient given the circumstances. The two were released. A hearing on their subpoenas is scheduled for December.
car theft
Police said one car was taken and one theft was thwarted after a witness threatened the robbers.
A gray 2021 Toyota RAV4 was stolen the night of Nov. 8 while it was parked in front of the owner’s home on Circle Avenue. The victim said he and his wife left the keys inside the Toyota. There was no surveillance footage at the scene.
On the night of Nov. 10, an attempted theft also occurred in the 7400 block of Washington Street. At 9 a.m. on Nov. 11, the victim discovered someone had smashed the driver’s side windshield of his black 2015 Kia sedan. The steering column was peeled off. The victim reported that he did not believe anything was stolen from the Kia.
According to eyewitnesses, they saw a man dressed in black break a window at around 6pm the previous day. Witnesses screamed and the would-be thief fled.
bicycle theft
A green Huffy brand bicycle and a black bicycle helmet were stolen overnight from a garage in the 1100 block of Troost Avenue.
The victim discovered the robbery around 9:59 a.m. on Nov. 11. The victim said he believed he locked the garage door, but police said they found no evidence of forced entry. The victim did not have the bike’s serial number. A surveillance camera was installed on the balcony of the house, but the incident was not captured.
The items were obtained from police reports filed by the Forest Park Police Department between Nov. 6 and Nov. 13 and represent some of the incidents police responded to. Unless otherwise specified, individuals named in these reports have only been charged with a crime. These cases have not yet been decided.
