The Southport-Oak Island Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold an “Endless Summer Bonfire Bash” on Thursday, Nov. 16 from 5 to 8 p.m. at 801 Ocean Drive in Oak Island. This family-friendly event spotlights local businesses that make our community special. All business professionals are invited to join us for a night of food, dancing, and a bonfire on the beach. Dance to DJ Rodney’s music and enjoy local North Carolina barbecue and s’mores. Tickets are $35 per person for Chamber members and $45 for non-members. Digging deep into history: The North Carolina Naval Reserve in the Spanish-American War will be supported at the North Carolina Maritime Museum in Southport (204 E. Moore St., Southport) on Saturday, November 18th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. . This program examines the role of North Carolina’s Naval Reserve during the Spanish-American War. The program is designed for all ages and combines live interpretation, material culture exhibits, and hands-on activities.
