BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Following overwhelmingly positive feedback on a pilot program earlier this year, Walmart is offering sensory-friendly shopping hours nationwide from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. local time every day. announced that it would be expanded to Tuesday.
Walmart is reinstating sensory-friendly hours from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. every day starting Nov. 10 at all Walmart U.S. and Puerto Rico stores, as well as Saturdays, with no end date scheduled.
According to a release, Walmart’s Sensory Friendly Shopping Hours are designed to help people with sensory disabilities shop in-store by creating a non-stimulating environment for several hours each day. During the back-to-school season, the retailer replaced the TV wall with static images, turned off the radio and dimmed the lights whenever possible.
“As a mother of an autistic child, I really appreciate your recognition and sensitivity to my needs. Little things like lighting and noise make a difference,” said Walmart customer Andrea T. Ta.
