Frigid weather is hitting Jefferson County, and some residents may need to go somewhere warmer. There are options for shelter networks during severe weather. The website is updated daily with information about open shelters. You must call for information and register your spot.

Three holiday performances will be held at Lakewood Cultural Center
The Lakewood Cultural Center will host three upcoming holiday events for the whole family. On November 30th, Kat Edmonson is coming to town with āHoliday Swinginā.ā Edmonson is a jazz vocalist who sings classical songs and his original holiday songs. Edmondson’s show also includes storytelling, reflection and humor, according to the cultural center’s website.
On December 2nd and 3rd, Colorado’s Stocking Stuffers troupe will be in town, featuring three famous acoustic singers and storytellers. Mary Huckins, John Chandler and Ernie Martinez join the troupe for a holiday show packed with Americana music and vocals.
A few days before Christmas, the Queen’s cartoonists put on a different kind of show with “Hooray for the Holidays: You’ll Love It!” The band plays classic cartoon music in sync with original cartoon footage. A fun and humorous musical journey for the whole family.

Attend Jeffco Open Space’s Fall and Holiday Events
Jefferson County Open Space recently announced three events to celebrate fall and the holidays. It is open to all ages and runs from November to December.
The Nature Journaling Club is taking over Lookout Mountain by āPainting the Colors of Nature.ā It will be held on Nov. 17 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Lookout Mountain Nature Center, 910 Colorow Road in Golden.
Let your little ones learn about owls with Preschool Nature Nuts: Whooo’s There? Learning sessions about nocturnal birds are suitable for children aged 3 to 5, accompanied by an adult. Sessions will be held twice at his Lookout Mountain Nature Center on Nov. 18 from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. and from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m.
Then, the whole family can participate in holiday crafts at Lookout Mountain Nature Center. Four sessions will be held over two days. Production hours are December 2nd and 8th from 10am to 11am and 11am to 12pm.

Save the date holiday lights
The cities of Lakewood and Wheat Ridge have both announced holiday lighting celebrations.
āLakewood Lightsā is scheduled for December from 5 to 9 p.m. 1, Heritage Lakewood Belmar Park, 801 S Yarrow St, Lakewood. The Mayor and City Council will be there to celebrate after turning on the lights to start the season.
Afterwards, take a walk through Belmar Park to see the lights, take the kids to see Santa, or try your hand at making decorations for your tree. The event is free and open to the public.
The City of Wheat Ridge will light up the city in a celebration that will be held at The Green, 7101 W. 38, on December 2nd from 3:00pm to 6:30pm.th Avenue, Wheat Ridge. Join city officials and neighbors as they enjoy snacks, carols, horse-drawn carriage rides, and other holiday activities. The tree lighting is scheduled for 6:15 p.m. The event is free to attend.
