Retail giant Walmart announced plans to host daily “sensory-friendly hours” for customers at all stores across the United States starting Friday.
Walmart said in a news release Tuesday that from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. local time, the TV wall will be replaced with static images, while lighting will be lowered to the extent possible to better accommodate customers with sensory disabilities. announced that it would be deleted.
“We hope our stores are a little easier on the eyes and ears for our customers and employees during these hours,” the company said in a news release. “These changes are thanks to people sharing their feedback on how their store helps them feel like they belong.”
Walmart said it conducted a pilot program for the new initiative on a back-to-school Saturday, adding that the feedback it received was “overwhelmingly positive.”
