This is the season when people shop for their family and friends.
Of course, this is the season when thefts increase. For some reason, the holiday season often seems to bring out both the best and the worst in people, so it’s no surprise that this time of year is popular with those looking for a five-finger discount. Probably.
We’ve all seen videos of “porch pirates” sneaking into homes and stealing packages left for delivery, but that’s just the beginning. The retail industry also experiences a lot of theft during the holiday season, and one of the world’s largest retailers during the holiday season is Walmart.

Theft seems to be a bigger problem, as the few times I’ve shopped at Walmart recently, I’ve been asked to show my receipt when I walk out the door. Now I may look a little shady, but I don’t believe I’m being profiled. Things like self-checkout, I think people are using technology to their advantage to get away with something.
Here’s some friendly advice. Keep an eye out this holiday season. Because sadly, the season of giving is often the season of receiving for someone else.
