Homecoming at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln is about more than fall football games and student royalty. There are activities each day to entertain, give back, and show off your Husker spirit.
Here are some great events that every student should seek out.
memorial stadium birthday party
October 23rd | 11am to 1pm | Memorial Stadium
Celebrate 100th Anniversary Saturday at Memorial Stadium with birthday cake, a walk on the field, and birthday wishes from campus leaders.
showtime!at the coliseum
October 23rd | Doors open at 7pm.Performance starts at 8pm | Coliseum
A fast-paced, high-octane show where fraternities, sororities, and sororities battle each other in two-minute group performances filled with music, dance, and drama for homecoming contest points and ultimate bragging rights. Watch the show and enjoy.
food truck craze
October 23rd | 9:00pm East Stadium Loop Parking Lot (Outside Coliseum)
After the Showtime performance, join the Council on University Programs and the Chancellor’s Commission on the Status of People of Color and enjoy complimentary snacks from Rutabaga’s, Hog Wild Pit Bar-BQ, and 402 Creamery.
blood donation campaign
daily, October 23-26.
This is Nebraska’s largest blood drive of the year. Spots remain open for students to donate. Monday’s donation site is the Nebraska East Union on East Campus. Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at Nebraska Union on City Campus. Sign up here.
cornhole tournament
October 25th | 5pm | Meyer Commons (Nebraska Union North Green)
Cheer on your favorite two-person team representing your student body in the classic lawn game of cornhole (aka bags). You will play against other pairs of his. The top three placing teams will receive Homecoming Competition Points.
multicultural society
October 26th | 5-7pm | Wick Alumni Center
Students connect with multicultural alumni through this free reception and program and contribute their time, talents, and/or assets to support their respective RSOs, communities of color, or the students those communities serve. You can recognize graduates who have done well. Registration is required.
Cornstock Festival, Homecoming Parade, and Clown Contest
October 27th | 4pm to 8pm | Memorial Stadium East Plaza
Enjoy food trucks, a Ferris wheel, live music, and more. The annual Homecoming Parade begins at 6 p.m. We will be cheering on performances from student organizations, community groups, Homecoming Royalty, the Cornhusker Marching Band, and special guests. Participants include floats, golf carts, performances and more. The parade route follows Vine Street and ends at the Cornstock Festival.
At 7 p.m., tune in to the stage to watch Husker students perform and compete in the clown competition.
homecoming lawn display
October 27th and 28th
Walk around campus and check out the Homecoming lawn displays by the fraternities and sororities that participate in the annual competition.All exhibits include this year’s theme Through These Gates: 100 Years Saturday at Memorial Stadium. The exhibit will be on display throughout the weekend.
