Since the release of Android 12L, Google has kept its promise to release more foldable and tablet-optimized Android apps. Severn’s first-party and third-party apps have added support for foldable smartphones and tablets, allowing users to take advantage of their devices’ larger screens. Many more apps are now optimized for big screens, including Adobe Acrobat Reader, Dropbox, Evernote, Gmail, Google Docs, Todoist, and more.
Adobe Acrobat Reader
Starting with Adobe Acrobat Reader, PDF readers have optimized layouts to use more screen real estate on flip phones and tablets. You can also use the app in split-screen mode and drag and drop PDF files from other apps into Acrobat Reader to open them. Adobe is also working on providing the ability to open PDF files side by side for comparison and consideration.
drop box
The Dropbox app for Android now automatically resizes files based on your device’s screen size. Therefore, images can be viewed in a larger view on foldable phones and tablets. The app now also supports external keyboards and mice for more precise control and productivity.
evernote
Evernote now supports a two-pane layout on large-screen Android devices such as flip phones and tablets. The app now works with a sketching stylus. We’ve also updated widgets that can adapt to different sizes and orientations.
G-mail
Gmail already has a two-pane layout for flip phones and tablets, and now has further optimizations, including the ability to open files and links in emails on the right half of the screen. You can control the width of the screen by dragging the split handle that initially appears in the center of the screen.
Google Docs
Google Docs already has a collapsible two-pane layout for phones and tablets. Now, Google has added the ability to enter edit mode as soon as you open a file. The formatting toolbar is now more visible and the cursor appears when you open a file on a flip phone or tablet.
Todoist
Todoist is one of the most popular to-do apps for Android smartphones. Foldable phones and tablets have a two-pane layout. The developers also switched important UI elements to the bottom for easier access.
zoom
Popular video conferencing app Zoom can now display video calls in landscape mode on half of the flip phone, allowing you to conduct meetings hands-free. For example, when you enable Flex mode on your Galaxy Z Fold 5, video calls switch to the standing half of the screen.
