From enjoying pizza and live music to checking out East Oakland’s new exhibit on the deep history of International Boulevard (formerly East 14th Street), there’s plenty to do this weekend. Next weekend, we’ll be bringing you a collection of Halloween events that both kids and adults can enjoy.

Live music and trivia at Drake’s Dealership
Drake’s Dealership is known for its refreshing beer and delicious food, but these are just a few of the restaurant’s offerings. A variety of DJs will take over the patio every Friday from 5pm to 9pm and Saturday from 1pm to 9pm. Juvenile w/Manny Fresh at Fox Theater
New Orleans rapper Juvenile is best known for bringing Southern rap to the national stage. He is also known for working with rapper Birdman’s label, Cash His Money Records, in the 90s and his 2000s. At the height of his career, he released a multi-platinum album. 400 degreesnow includes classic tracks Sigh and Back That As Up (featuring Mannie Fresh and Lil Wayne). During the summer, Juvenile appeared on her series of NPR’s Tiny Desk concerts. The concert was a short, intimate set at the public radio station’s headquarters in Washington, DC. The show went viral and a tour began.This weekend, Juvenile celebrates 25 years of album release 400 degrees A concert is scheduled to be accompanied by Mannie Fresh and the Tiny Desk Show band.

Eastside Arts Alliance’s “Intergalactic Boulevard: Oakland Portal”
Eastside Arts Alliance, in partnership with ProArts Gallery & Commons, presents a new exhibition by San Francisco-based Portuguese-American artist Rigo 23 and his collaborators called Intergalactic Boulevard: Oakland Portal. Masu. This exhibition uses sculpture, embroidery, drawing, painting, and spoken word to transform International Boulevard (formerly known as East 14th before 1996) into an “intergalactic boulevard, a self-sustaining portal for connectivity between communities.” We are reconsidering it as a place for The show pays homage to the boulevard’s deep history and acknowledges the strong connections that many community members have with the boulevard, re-imagining East Auckland’s commercial and residential corridor as a center of solidarity. Masu. The exhibition also incorporates a number of community engagements, including a free Writing His Workshop this Sunday. This workshop invites people with a connection to roads to share their stories, experiences and hopes for East Auckland.

This weekend, Auckland Museum will host its annual Dia de los Muertos event, starting with the festival’s opening procession. The museum garden will feature altars made by community members, family activities, music, and local artisans selling items for use in at-home ofrendas. You can also bring your own picnic and enjoy it in the garden. Your ticket includes access to the museum’s galleries.

Dimensions Dance Theater 50th Anniversary
Dimensions Dance Theater is a professional dance company founded in Oakland in 1972 with a mission to promote dance of African origin. For the past 50 years, Dimensions has supported choreographers, artists, and collaborations that advocate social justice, creative development, advocacy, and transformation for marginalized communities. This weekend, the dance company will celebrate this milestone with two performances at the Malonga Cascoeur Center. Performances include traditional and contemporary choreography, including jazz, West African, Congolese, Haitian, Hawaiian, and modern dance.
