Ann Arbor, Michigan – Halloween is just around the corner, and Tree Town organizations, businesses, and neighborhoods are celebrating with candy, spooky drinks, spooky contests, and more.
Area events include haunted trunk-or-treats, scary movies, cult classics, and special tarot readings.

spooky skates
Come skate in costume and listen to spooky music at the Veterans Memorial Ice Area, 2150 Jackson Ave., on Sunday, Oct. 29, from 1 to 3 p.m.
Ann Arbor Parks and Recreation will host the event, which will include a costume contest with prizes starting at 2 p.m.
Regular admission to the ice area is $6 for adults and $5 for children and seniors. Skate rental is $3.

Bloom Meadworks will host its annual Witch Woo Fest on Friday, October 27th from 6pm. Meadworks, 100 South Fourth Street, will feature tarot readings, pumpkin painting, spooky baked goods from Ellen’s Fine Goods and live music.
York (1928 Packard St.) will also host two haunted events in honor of Halloween. The first is a dog-friendly trick-or-treat on Oct. 26 featuring a costume contest, vendors and several Ann Arbor dog trainers. The second is an Exorcist-themed birthday party on Oct. 28 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1973 film’s release. Starting at 5:30 p.m., there will be a screening of the film, spooky drinks, a costume contest, and the sale of Exorcist-themed zines.

Reign in the madness at Michigan Theater’s annual Rocky Horror Show on Halloween.
The independent theater, located at 603 E. Liberty St., will screen the 1975 cult classic film on Oct. 27 and Oct. 28 with a live shadowcast by Leather Medusa.
Theaters are asking patrons not to bring in hot dogs, prunes, toilet paper, lighters, candles, water guns, rice and confetti – if you know who you are.
