Modernism Week’s signature February festival will run from February 15th to 25th, 2024. Perfect for a dreamy Valentine’s Day excursion.
The 2024 event series will once again feature midcentury modern architecture, art, interiors, landscape design, and more in the greater Palm Springs area. The 11-day festival will feature more than 350 events, including the Palm Springs Modernism Show, tours of more than 35 community iconic homes, live shows and numerous parties, according to a recent release from organizers. The festival’s popular double-decker bus tour is back, but this year there are also several new events for architecture fans of all ages. All events are open to the public and tickets will go on sale at noon on Wednesday, November 1st at modernismweek.com. The schedule of events will be available for preview on the website starting October 25th (although new events may be added in the fall).

Modernism Week Restoration Series: Sutter House (2/18, $60)
The First Restoration Series is a group of home tours aimed at celebrating important examples of desert modernist architecture that have been preserved, restored, and include carefully selected furniture and decorative items. The Sutter House (1958), a modernist masterpiece by architect E. Stewart Williams AIA, is Palm Springs Historic Site #133 and the first to be featured in this new series.
Villa Sierra “That Pink Door House” Home Tour (2/20, 2/21, $40))
Step behind the famous (on Instagram at least) pink door at Villa Sierra, a colorful take on mid-century modern Hollywood Regency style designed by James McNaughton. This is a rare opportunity to tour this photogenic mid-century desert ranch, with its grand scale, expansive public rooms, and floor-to-ceiling windows that blur the line between inside and outside.
Art + Architecture Home Tour: Hollywood Regency Style (2/16, $40)
Join Modernism Week for an exclusive tour of a rare private gem in the world of mid-century and Hollywood Regency architecture in Palm Springs, a 1967 masterpiece designed by renowned architect James McNaughton. Tour includes: Opportunity to view the owner’s amazing art and design collection.
Modernism Week Featured House: Shag House (2/16-2/19 and 2/23-2/25, $40))
Artist Shag has reimagined a midcentury modern home in the Little Beverly Hills neighborhood and created a fully immersive tour that allows visitors to virtually step inside a life-sized Shag painting. Shag preserved much of the original Palmer & Krisel layout of this classic Alexander design, but created an entirely new façade, extending the front entrance and converting the original breezeway into a party lounge. did.

Villa de Las Palmas is a little-known midcentury architectural gem located between the vibrant Palm Springs Uptown Design District and the popular Old Las Palmas neighborhood.
