- The Forsyth County Commission has given formal approval for a new day care facility on Old Atlanta Road in south Forsyth County. The rezoning request was approved unanimously, allowing the creation of a 10,029-square-foot child care facility on the 1.94-acre property, which was previously zoned agricultural. The site borders the St. Marlo subdivision, and project attorney Ethan Underwood said concerns about noise and sewer impacts were addressed during the planning process. (media appendix)
- A 45-year-old Cumming woman has been arrested on suspicion of assault and abuse after allegedly causing harm to her elderly mother at her Scott Road home. The victim’s sister reported hearing the victim crying in her room early in the morning and finding the suspect standing over her. The victim said she did not know how she sustained her injuries and that the suspect was angry over the accusations regarding the loss of her cell phone, and the suspect was arrested on misdemeanor domestic violence and elder abuse charges. . - Join us on Saturday, October 28th for the Football Game Day Watch Party at Lou Sob Amphitheater. The UGA vs. Florida game will be shown on the big screen.. The event starts early with pre-game festivities and continues throughout the day, culminating with the Howl’s Oween event from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. The event includes pet adoption, costume contest, trick-or-treating, fall door decorating contest and more. . Participants are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets. Friendly dogs on a leash are also welcome. Admission is free and parking is free, but outside food, drinks, alcohol, coolers, glasses, cans, and tents are prohibited. - Students from Georgia’s Cumberland Academy, along with other volunteers, joined forces to build a new home for humanity in northern Forsyth County. The project brought together volunteers, prospective neighbors, and high school students to help build the homes. This collaborative effort demonstrated community spirit and dedication and highlighted the importance of volunteer contributions that make Habitat for Humanity projects possible.
